these instructions are quite detailed for those members who don't have much experience with this type of thing.
[/li][li]the next step is to paste the URL of your image that you previously copied directly between those two tags.
once you have pasted the URL it should look like this...

[/img] (only without any spaces)
[/li][li]you should be ready to post your picture now, but just to be sure my picture is showing up i usually preview the message first.
[/li][/ul]
a couple of tips...
all code should be posted without any spaces or gaps. i had to add spaces to my examples of the "insert image" tags, so that they would show up in these instructions.
if you would like to post more than one picture in the same message, you will need to enclose each image's URL with it's own set of "insert image" tags. to make things easier, i usually put each one on a separate line. this way the pictures will show up underneath each other instead of next to each other in your message.
you might want to be aware of the size of your image before you upload it to the host site. if your picture is quite big, then you might want to resize it before you start. if you need any help with that, i'd be more than happy to help.
more as i think of them...
- the first step to posting your own pictures is to register with an image hosting site. the most popular sites are photobucket and imageshack, but there are quite a few others to choose from if you hunt around.
- once you have completed registering with your chosen host, the next step is to upload the image you would like to use to the host site. the image should be first saved to your computer (i keep mine in 'my documents'), and both of these sites have full instructions on how to upload your images.
- after you have uploaded the image you'll be using, you next need to copy the URL (web address) of your uploaded image, so you can paste it in your post here at the forum in the next step. after uploading your image, you should see several choices of URL's that you can use. i use imageshack as my host, and usually use the 'direct link' URL to my image. an example of a direct link URL looks like this...
img264.imageshack.us/img264/3776/988784me.jpg - once you've copied the URL, the next step is to paste it in your post. once you're at the 'post message' box in the thread you'd like to post your picture in, you will need to click on the "insert image" tag that can be found in the 'Add Tags' section just above the smilies.
the box you need to click on looks like this.
